Another Project

April 13, 2011

And here's another project that we've started working on.  We didn't want the area under the stairs to go to waste, so we decided to dedicate part of it to storage and the rest to a little bar area.  The bar fridge was generously donated to us by Craig's sister-in-law and brother, so all we had to do was create a spot for it.  The bar area is a lot wider than the fridge, so we added a couple of wine racks on either side to make up the difference.  (And again, when I say "we", I mean Craig and dad, but at least they asked for my input!)  Yet another thing that turned out to be pretty and functional.  Here's the result of all their hard work:

We're still going to add a couple of shelves above the countertop to hold a few glasses (once this basement is finished, there will really be no need to go upstairs!).  Now for your input: do you think shallow shelves made of MDF would work, or do you think we should go for glass shelves?  I'm personally not a huge fan of glass shelves, but maybe they'd be necessary in this teeny spot so that the light isn't blocked?  We did think ahead and install the light closer to the front...  Decisions, decisions.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
